Mammoth Cave, KY – A Poetry Reflection

The mouth of Mammoth Cave

Mammoth Cave

Icy breezes dances across my arm

From ancient depths

From the gut of the earth

What do they know?

I fancy myself an adventurous soul

But when I slowly walk into the darkness

I suddenly know what bravery entails

Uncertainty draws be back to the surface

A few steps toward the top

The air is hot and bubbling

Wrapping me in inescapable heat

What are they trying to tell me?

I’m caught up at the mouth of the cave

In the choreography of

two worlds constantly colliding.

Happy Travels,

Proof that I was here
